April Wrap-Up

In a blink of an eye – BAM – April is gone. For readers – great – because it’s finally May and the wait for ACOWAR is over!!! (But for uni students – not so great – because exams are fast approaching and for someone who procrastinates too much for her own good – it’s definitely not ideal.) BUT HEY ON THE GOOD SIDE: IT’S MAY WHICH MEANS THERE WILL BE SO MANY NEW RELEASES! Oh and this wrap-up will be short and sweet 🙂

This month I’ve read (click on the link to read my review!):

  1. Rebel of the Sands (⭐️⭐️⭐️)
  2. Genius: the game (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
  3. Defy the Stars (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)

  5. Avenged: Ruined 2 (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)

Book Review: Avenged: Ruined 2 by Amy Tintera (spoiler-free)

“What goes around comes around” – Amy Tintera, Avenged

Happy release day to Avenged by Amy Tintera (aka sequel to Ruined)! I’ve been dying to read this ever since I finished Ruined last year – I was so hooked to the plot and characters. Since the review I’m doing is about a sequel, it will contain spoilers of Ruined (book 1) so I recommend that you only read this review if you have read Ruined – as I would hate to spoil that for you. But rest assured, this review contains zero spoilers for Avenged! Thank you to Allen & Unwin for providing me a review copy!!!

Synopsis:

Emelina Flores has come home to Ruina. After rescuing her sister Olivia from imprisonment in rival kingdom Lera, Em and Olivia together vow to rebuild Ruina to its former glory.

But their fight has only begun. Olivia is determined to destroy everyone who acts against Ruina, but Em isn’t as sure. Ever since Em posed as Prince Casimir’s betrothed in Lera, she’s started to see another side to this war. And now that Cas has taken the throne, Em believes a truce is within reach. But Olivia suspects that Em’s romantic feelings for Cas are just coloring her judgement.

Em is determined to bring peace to her home. But when winning the war could mean betraying her family, Em faces an impossible choice between loyalty and love. Em must stay one step ahead of her enemies—and her blood—before she’s the next victim in this battle for sovereignty.

Book Review: King’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard (spoiler-free)

Hello bookworms! February is here which means……… the release of one of the most anticipated books of 2017 and the third instalment of the Red Queen series – King’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard! Thank you so much to Hachette Books for sending me a copy! Ok, for those who have NOT, I repeat, if you have NOT read the first two books of the Red Queen books, I encourage you to not read this review, because this review is only “spoiler-free” of book 3 itself – not the series. (It’ll be impossible to write one without mentioning what happens in the books before). Okay, without further ado, let’s get started!!!

Synopsis:

Mare Barrow is a prisoner, powerless without her lightning, tormented by her lethal mistakes. She lives at the mercy of a boy she once loved, a boy made of lies and betrayal. Now a king, Maven Calore continues weaving his dead mother’s web in an attempt to maintain control over his country—and his prisoner.

As Mare bears the weight of Silent Stone in the palace, her once-ragtag band of newbloods and Reds continue organizing, training, and expanding. They prepare for war, no longer able to linger in the shadows. And Cal, the exiled prince with his own claim on Mare’s heart, will stop at nothing to bring her back.

When blood turns on blood, and ability on ability, there may be no one left to put out the fire —leaving Norta as Mare knows it to burn all the way down.

Review: Everything Everything by Nicola Soon (spoiler free)

Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon is a cute, unique and flowing story which I thoroughly enjoyed. And for the first time in a while – I finished this book in one sitting.

Synopsis:

My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

Review: Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bargudo (Spoilers Free!)

(Hello there! This would be my very first book review so please bear with me!)

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo has been on the top of my ‘most anticipated book of 2016’ shelf ever since I finished Six of Crows a few months ago. The world of Six of Crows is crafted so spectacularly and I simply cannot suppress the love I have for this world. (Okay, since this is a review for Book 2, I assume y’all have read Six of Crows (book 1). If not, please STOP reading now! You have to read it because it’s so damn good and I would hate to ruin it for you!)
