Hello guys how have you been? It’s been ages since I last posted – let’s just say that things got so hectic over the last month! Anyways – in this post, I’ll be sharing with you my top 13 reads of 2017! Let’s get started!
I was sent this delightful novel penned by debut author Elly Blake at the beginning of the year and it truly is a gem of a kind! Frostblood is a treasure box of gorgeous proses, elemental powers, internal kingdom turmoils and a lush romance. The writing is beautiful and intricate and it got me out of a long slump! Read my full review of Frostblood on here.
The second instalment of the Ruined series is absolutely brilliant! Tintera managed to keep the striking momentum from book 1 right into book 2! Let’s just say shit went down badly in this one – and it’s absolutely action packed! I also love the development of each character! See my full review of Avenged here.
11) This is Our Story
This is the first ever YA whodunnit I read and it was so breathtaking I finished it in one sitting (slept at around 3am). It’s full of shocking twists and ugly lies – and it’s in a very nice multimedia format too which I really appreciate! You can check out the goodreads synopsis on here.
10) The Hating Game
THIS BOOK!!!!! GUYSSSS OMMWEHERGIEFJW this book was amazing ok I love it so much!!!!! It’s such a sassy read filled-to-the-brim with the best banters!! If you’re up for a romcom read – definitely pick up this one if you haven’t already! You can check out the goodreads synopsis on here.
9) Hunting Prince Dracula
I don’t know about you – but I ADORE Stalking Jack The Ripper! And book 2 got even better!!!!! The chemistry between the two leads is EVERYTHING and my lips are sealed about it because I would hate to spoil anything! You can check out the goodreads synopsis on here.
8) Vengeance Road
SASS. Girl-dressing-up-as-boy. Western. Gun fights. Blood. It’s my first ever western novel and I have to say I can’t ask for anything better. It’s a lovely short read with a PUNCH! The companion novel Retribution Rails came out a few months ago and it was SO BLOODY GOOD AS WELL!! You can check out the goodreads synopsis on here.
7) The Final Empire
Y’aLLL tHiS BoOK sHoOK mEEeee!!!! The magical system involving metals is so cool and I can’t believe I only pick this one up now? The cast is quite large but I never loose track of each main and I love the alternating POVs! Kelsier is super badass and chill at the same time I can’t help but love him. I also love Vin for being Vin (because that reason alone is everything) oh and I also love this dork called Elend Venture. I’m half way in book 2 and I’m loving it so much. You can check out the goodreads synopsis on here.
6) The Scorpio Races
I told myself earlier this year that I can’t really call myself Maggie Stiefvater trash unless I’ve read at least half of her books (I’m yet to read the Shiver books). So I went and got this one and HOLY SHET GUYS – THIS BOOK CONSUMED MY SOUL. Sean Kendrick and Puck Connolly will forever have a place in my heart. I have a special playlist on my phone just for this book! Find my full review here.
5) The Traitor’s Kiss
If you follow me on Bookstagram – you would know how much I am trash for this book by debut author Erin Beaty! (I declared myself the unofficial ambassador for this book.) I highly recommend you to read my full no-spoiler review on here – and if that isn’t enough to convince you to read it – LOOK AT THIS GORGEOUS COVERRRRR!!!!
4) Lord of Shadows
I am a good human being with decent morals which is why I’m sealing my lips on anything LOS. JUST BE PREPARED FOR ALL THE DAMN FEELS.
3) Nevernight + Godsgrave
Y’allllllll – Jay Kristoff officially ruined me as a person with these two books of his. If you haven’t read Nevernight – bRUh, whAt YoU dOInG??? Find my full review for Nevernight here and Godsgrave here.
2) Our Dark Duet
I read this book during a pretty tough phase of my life – I was away from home, my exam results came back and they were awful and I had to study for hours after spending 10 hours at the clinic each day seeing patients for an entire month – so yes, this book means a lot to me – as it really got me back on my feet and got me feeling so much and simply kept me going during that time. I cried and cried and cried over it. I’m forever thankful to Victoria for creating this masterpiece. Read my full review on here.
1) Letters to the Lost
I don’t think I need to say more about how much I adore this beautiful book – even I am surprised at myself for placing a contemporary novel as my number 1 book of 2017. It’s a book that I recommend to each and every person I am good friends with because I believe the messages of this book are so overwhelmingly important and needs to be spread to the world. If that sounds like your cup of tea – you can find my full review on here.
That’s it my friend! Hope you enjoy this post! I wish a very Happy New Year! xD
