Books I wanna read before the end of the year? This is the tough question I’ve been asking myself. You see, med school this semester is CRAZY – I’ve got 4 modules: neuroscience, pharmacology, gastrointestinal medicine and psychology/human development (see? it’s overloaded) – so I don’t even know if I’ll HAVE time to read books other than the ones I have to review. So yeah – I’ll let you know in this short post about the 10 books I’d read before the end of the year! (the books are listed in no particular order, and are subject to change but who knows haha!)
1. The Love Interest
I got sent a copy of this from Pan MacMillan (thank you!!!), and I am so pumped to read it! It’s by an Australian (Brisbane born) author, so I just HAD to check this one out – its Goodreads synopsis can be found here! I am pretty sure it was a YA book choice for BOTM club two months back or something. But anyways, it’s about spies (handsome spies), competing for their “mission” and gosh, it’s a LGBTI novel too so I’m even MORE excited to get started with this one! I heard it’s super funny at the start too!
2. Roar
This is a very hyped book, I’ve heard mainly good things about this fantasy novel – which is good news! It’s about a girl with without storm magic (I think), and I heard that it’s got some pretty cool badass world building and angsty warriors (I made that last part up, don’t trust me on this). Again, I got sent this from Pan MacMillan so look out for my review soon! Synopsis can be viewed here.
3. Strange the Dreamer
After being confronted by multiple individuals, I’ve decided to give Strange the Dreamer a go. However, I had an unfortunate mishap with Book Depository – my first copy had a printing fault (rip) and was missing all the pages prior to page 27 – I mean one cannot properly start a book without the first 26 pages right? Anyways, my replacement copy just arrived yesterday and I’ll do my best and push it up my TBR so I can finally experience the magic of this book!
4.Take Three Girls
GUYS!!!! Take Three Girls is the LIT-est Aussie YA Collab of the year!!! It’s about feminism, cyber-bullying, misogyny and loads of other good important themes. The link to its synopsis can be found here. I’m also going to be participating in the Blog Tour in early September for this book so definitely look out for it!!!!
5. A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares
I received an arc of this book from Penguin Random House – and it’s by the author of Out Chemical Hearts, Krystal Sutherland!!!! (She’s from my hometown and I really hope she will come and visit when she launches her book! It’s my dream to have my arcs signed by the author!) It seems like a very cute contemporary and I’m pumped to read it once I’m a little over the edge with the fantasy books! The synopsis can be found on here.
6. When I Case Your Shadow
I requested this off NetGalley – it’s a thriller one which is the thing I’m kinda into at the moment (after reading Wreck by Fleur Ferries). It’s about a girl and her brothers and some shit went wrong and someone died and stuff. (I can’t remember the exact details sorry). But yeah, I will read this and will post my review on Goodreads!
7. Strange Alchemy
This one was also sent to my by NetGalley, and again it’s a YA paranormal/mystery novel due to be released in late August. It’s about a disappearance of 114 people, in which the exact same thing happened in the past. Two teens got thrown in together and they have to stop people from getting missing. The plot sounds great to me – you can check out the synopsis on here. I need more thrill in my mundane life so this one actually sounds divine.
8. A Darker Shade of Magic
Look, I know I said I would read the Shade of Magic series back in June, but lots of crap happened back then and plans got changed. So I had to push these ones back a little so I can properly indulge in Schwab’s writing – I probably would binge-read these in the one-week break that I will have in the middle of the semester.
9. A Torch Against the Night
I read An Ember in the Ashes sometime last year – seems like ages ago for me. So I don’t know, I might have to re-read AETIA before jumping into ATATN, maybe I won’t. Guess I’ll decide when I finally have TIME! haha! Have you read this one yet? I heard that it’s better than book 1, is that the case? Let me know below!
10. Godsgrave
[Wow Wing-yee, so ambitious, you channeling yo inner Slytherin or something? You aren’t even a quarter done with Nevernight.] GUESS WHAT MY DUDES I am going to make it my goal to finish Nevernight ASAP, so I can join in with my pals and we can freak out together about GODSGRAVE aka one of the MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE of 2017!!!!!!!!
That’s a wrap for today’s little post! (It’s a pretty casual post so please don’t mind the typos). Hope you have a great day! And Happy Reading!!!
Great choices! I’m going to try and read A Darker Shade of Magic too. I’ve heard so many good things about it 🙂

LOL I love your description of When I Cast Your Shadow! XD Wow, a whole module on GI medicine? That is insane! I honestly can’t even imagine doing medicine – nursing school was more than enough for me, and I’m doing a post-grad at the moment. Good luck with getting to 10 more books before the end of the year! Are you currently doing placements too?
I’m so excited for Take Three Girls, A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares, Roar, The Love Interest. I’ll be definitely reading Strange the Dreamer by the end of the year, after I’ve read Dreams of Gods and Monsters!
